Oracle Cloud — freedom to be free in fifteen

The cloud is all good when it’s always free.

Now the Oracle Cloud offers:

  • Always Free — Services you can use for an unlimited time.
  • 30-day Free Trial — US$300 in free credits.

Just a few steps and you’ll be on your way — in about 15 minutes!

Start here

To begin, from oracle.com you need to click on ‘View Accounts’.

Then ‘Try Free Tier’.

Next is to click on ‘Start for free’.

Create your Oracle Cloud account

Now enter some basic details, including your email address.

Also nominate a password for your Oracle Cloud account.

You can create your own, or accept the suggested password.

The rules for creating your own password are as follows:

Password must contain a minimum of 8 characters, 1 lowercase, 1 uppercase, 1 numeric, and 1 special character .

Password cannot exceed 40 characters, contain the users first name, last name, email address, spaces, or ` ~ < > \ characters.

Verify your email address

To verify your email address you’ll now get an email titled ‘Confirm your Oracle cloud account’.

Click on the link in the email and you’ll be taken to the next stage to enter your billing address.

Note — your credit card (or debit card) information will be entered at a later stage.

Verify your mobile number

Now enter your mobile number for verification.

You will receive an SMS containing an Oracle Cloud verification code, which you’ll need to enter in the site.

Verify your payment method

The next stage is to agree to verify a payment method.

Select ‘Credit Card’ and you’ll proceed to the payment method stage, and enter your credit card details.

Visa, or Mastercard, and American Express are accepted.

Then you’ll be greeted with the following confirmation widget.

Verify that you want to start

Click on the agreement to ‘Start my free Trial’.

If all is well, and your payment details are accepted, then next you’ll receive the setup splash page.

After a short wait, you’ll get the Oracle cloud console page.
